Encompassing all aspects of secular Jewish life, in no particular
order:
1. Egal Amir -- he killed Itzhak Rabin
2. Monica Levinsky -- self-explanatory
3. Noam Chomsky -- if you don't know already,
read about him here.
If that's not enough, look here.
If you are under the impression that he's a good linguist, well.
He's greatest contribution to linguistics was the idea that all
languages are structured like English, only they don't know it.
For all I know, Chomsky is probably a genius. He writes books
nobody can understand.
[Update: if you dig a little, you find a lot of dirt on Chomsky.
So, if you still believe that Chomsky is a great linguist, check
out: this
link-o-matic and Armitas,
a linguist and a blogger who likes to debunk Chomsky on all fronts.
More linguistics crap is here.
A grad student in Linguistics told me ones that Chomsky is a fraud
who likes to reinvent himself every 15 years. Chomsky's curious
attitude towards his own Jewish people is discussed by his own
Jewish people in depth, of course. For instance, see Diary
of an anti-Chomskiate and this
Dershowitz editorial about Chomsky refusing to debate Dershowitz.
Of course, Chomsky occasionally debates people, who inevitably
crash his little annoying evasive self. So, here is his
CNN debate with Bill Benett. And don't forget that Chomsky
was strangely fond of Khmer
Rouge, so yeah, it's not all about the Jews. So anyhow, there
is a bunch of other great links, including this outstanding
undergrad honor thesis, also dealing with Cambodia, this piece
on Hypocrisy
of Noam Chomsky, and this one, Noam
Chomsky: a Critical Review, and this short one about Chomsky
and postmodernism. Oliver Kamm has the
greatest review of Chomsky's books. So yeah, you get the idea.
Btw, it's rumored that Chompsky owns two HUGE house, four boats
and an Audi. I don't know if it's true, but this best-selling
author mast be doing something with his money.]
4. Henry Kissenger -- self-explanatory
5. Jaques Derrida -- redefined intellectual
masturbating for the second half of the 20th century. Apparently,
the guy has no life. Why else would a philosopher produce pages
and pages of word play? And why should I read it? Supposedly,
he wants to reintroduce play into criticism, but his grammar is
dull and unbearable. After you spend hours and hours trying to
decipher what the hell he means, all you can come up with is something
pathetic, like this or that aspect of our culture is a cultural
construct. Do'h!
6. Bobby Fisher -- read about him here
7. Perry Farrel -- bad music, bad drugs
8. Lazar Koganovich -- This onetime
Stalin's acolyte is responsible for the deaths of millions. I
believe he lived to 101.
9. Alan Ginsburg --
Vera Blum is biased against poetry that doesn't rhyme.
10. I'm drawing a blank... Help
me out here.
